Hello all,

My name is Sherri and I am a 40 year old female living in Brampton, ON Canada. I have been suffering from back pain for almost five years, but like alot of other people here I only recently got some answers.

In Jan I was involved in an MVA that triggered a list of new problems and pain, but thankfully these problems got me an MRI. That MRI is what brings me here.

Three weeks ago I was told I have two small (Largest 1cm) cysts on my cervical spine. I was originally told they were Tarlov Cysts, but a specialist has since that time disagreed and calls them Perineural. After everything I've read I am wondering, "Really? What's the Difference?". I hope to get an answer to that question, and many others soon.

After the cervical cyst was diagnosed I found a local specialist with experience in these cysts and I was advised not to treat the cyst. It seems the cyst is too close to my left vertebral artery, a major blood vessel to the brain, and could be very risky.

Following that diagnosis my Physician ordered another MRI of my lower spine and they found what I hope is the last of my scary problems. They found another Cyst (this time the Neuroradioligist didn't try to name it..... smart boy!) in my sacrum canal. This cyst measures
5 x 1.6 x 7 cm. From the responses I've gotten from medical professionals I assume that's pretty freakin' big. Their looks of shock say it all and I sit here now waiting for a referral to Toronto Western Hospitals Spinal Department.

There were several other issues including: mild to moderate spinal stenosis, tiny central disc herniation without nerve root impingement, osteophyte formations and DDD. They I THINK are mild in comparison to the cysts.

I am just starting out on my unplanned, and unwanted journey, and would love to have some more experienced companions to help me navigate the upcoming dark road ahead of me.

It's a little scary and at this time I have NO idea of what might be coming, but I do know one thing. I am happy to at last no longer be looked at like a whiny, hypochondriac! I am not happy with the problem, but I am happy to have finally found a justified cause. At least a cause can provide a solution.
